Poured into a narrow pint glass: color is straw and super clear, head is brighter white with fine bubbles, head presents one finger thick then dissipates to thin top, spotty lacing on glass sides.
Smell is malt forward, biscuit, grain, grassy hops, slightly light.
Taste is similar with malt forward with biscuit, pilsner, graininess, grassy and earth hops.
Mouthfeel is crisp carbonation, moderate sweetness, moderate bitterness.
Overall a very good Kölsch-style beer with malt forward flavor and moderate hoppy bitterness.

Wissahickon Brewing Co. "Kölsch"
$5/pint on tap at the brewery on 07/28/2022
Look: Clear golden body beneath a finger's width of white foam.
Smell: Sweetish malt with a clear notes of wheat along with some mild herbs, earth, and mineralish character.
Taste: Sweetish, grainy, bready, and biscuity malt with spicy, herbal, grassy, and earthy hops threaded through. A median bitterness leads to a dry finish.
Feel: Medium bodied and crisp.
Overall: A decent enough Kölsch-style beer but nothing to write home about.

A clear glass pint full of beer arrived after being drawn from a tap. There's no head on top, but that's the way most craft beer is served in Philadelphia. Quite translucent is this bright amber colored liquid. It brings an aroma similar to most of its style, a blending of malt and hops that somehow combine to produce a mild nutlike sweetness. The lack of a head didn't mean this wouldn't be nicely carbonated. It's just about right in that aspect as well as the body, which is much more like ale than lager. Kolsches should drink slightly more hoppy and richer than lagers and this one does so. This is a good tasting Kolsch, in near perfect balance between the malt and hops. Deep taste sensations aren't the goal in this style, so everything here is in moderation. This even brings a pleasant sensation of that nutty sweetness that makes the style so tasty. There's no glass lacing, but that doesn’t reflect the quality of the body. Probably not available outside of the area, but worth a try, if you like the style.
