on draft, served in shaker pint glass

black in color, cream colored head. the head is a little oily I suppose from the fat in the Oreos. Sweet milk chocolate and vanilla. But not cloying. Does have a similar flavor reminiscent of the cookies

It's dark brown, but not as nearly close to black as many stouts. Once the contents of a pint can have been emptied into a clear glass liter mug, the milk chocolate color becomes apparent. There's no head, it's a milk stout, so none was anticipated. There's some chocolate and roasted malt for the nose, but nothing exceptional. The good news is that it's not too sweet, although it is sweet. The bad news is that it's not too flavorful. There's very little dark chocolate to savor. With some lactose, there's a little hint of a cookies creme filling, but, again, it's not pronounced. Rhetorically, if you're going to brew a dessert beer, why not go all in? Why not make this too creamy, too chocolatety and even too sweet. This straddles the dessert beer, mainstream stout line to a fault. Once the commitment to go dessert style has been made, go for it all the way. It's got too much added flavors to appease a traditional stout drinker. Yet, it comes up short for people that love a dessert style stout, as this advertises. There's no glass lacing, as there's no taste of the mild 6% ABV. Last line, this is a disappointment on both the milk stout and dessert beer levels. There's no points added by a mediocre mouthfeel. With its added flavors and lactose, this can't be proclaimed a good stout, merely tolerable.
