5 Lakes Brew Pub

Big place in an outlet mall so lots of parking. Lots of seating and bar is very large. Five 5 Lakes brews on tap and 12 others. Ciders, wine and spirits available. Food available but didn't have anything.

 

 

This brewery just recently opened, and is situated in a strip mall setting at the eastern edge of town. A bowling alley is to the rear of the pub, and refreshments can be ordered through a window that connects the pub to the bowling alley. The brewing equipment is visible through large windows at the front of the building. A long bar is situated at the back of the pub, and the numerous tables included high and low versions.

We stopped here to try their beers and to have a late lunch. There were 10 beers on tap so we ordered a sampler flight of 6 of them. (They also offer 6 wines and 2 ciders.) Each of the beers was brewed to style, and they were pretty consistent in the level of quality in relation to style so that we gave most of them the same score which averaged out to a 3.5 overall. However, none were so notable to create a Wow factor, and the best of the bunch was the Michigan IPA. (We wondered if two beers were mixed up during the serving process because the Porter was roasty and the Stout was not.)

The food menu is basically pub grub with burgers, hot dogs, pizza and deli sandwiches, and we really enjoyed our selections.

Since this place just recently opened and has a good start on the quality of the food and beer, I expect that things will only continue to get better as they fine tune their beer recipes to get into the Wow category.
