I finally stopped into Gilman on a recent visit to Berkeley. The taproom has a small, intimate space inside and abutting the tanks, along with a roomier patio area. Lots of tap selections and a friendly beertender made this a welcoming visit.

Very laidback, industrial but warm, good indoor/outdoor seating, great beer, limited in house food selection but food trucks are usually there. Staff are fantastic, warm and eager to chew the fat regarding beer and anything else you might fancy. And that nice breeze off the SF bay…what’s not to like?

Spacious seating with plenty of outdoor seating along the street as well. Inhabiting a repurposed garage, the automotive theme carries well though the compact but comprehensive offering of solid brews on tap and to go. Easy to order via QR code and smartphone.

Mind blowing brewery. Possibly the best brewery in the United States, or second after Russian River.
