This is one of the most interesting combinations of styles that I've run accross in my limited travels. The color is dark brown, almost black, with a medium-sized, light brown head. The aroma is a combination of dark, Porter-like malts, citrissy American hops, and weizen yeast spice. The flavor seems like a combination of the malt body of a porter, the hops of an APA, and the spicy flavor is a hefeweizen. That might not sound so good on paper, but with this beer the flavors seem to be layered nicely so each aspect gets a chance to shine. Still, I think this might be better if it were brewed with considerably less hops so as to concentrate on the more interesting combination of dark chocolatey malts and clovey spice. I really enjoyed this experiment, I hope of have the opportunity to sample more interesting concoctions like this in the future.
