Slow fermented for more than one year. Aria is a tart and oaky blend of white wine barrel-aged beer and two different cultures. It starts with the citrus-forward aroma of orange peel, from Mandarina Bavaria hops, and ends with lots of Brettanomyces funk.

Clear, with a light chill haze, the beer is bright copper (SRM 11-14). The short-lived, off-white foam is dense, reaching one inch briefly, then falling to a trace ring. Occasional small, lazy carbonation drifts upward within a Spieglau IIPA glass.

The aroma is earthy and fruity with funky spice. Faint notes of citrus are difficult to identify and are followed by sour apples and overripe grapes. Oak is pronounced, though far from overpowering.

Oak and grape work well together in the flavor, followed by apples. Sourness is higher than sweetness, with both well controlled. Light bitterness is more apparent in the long, mild finish.

Alcohol is as expected, while fizzy carbonation accentuates the flavors. There is no astringency in this very clean, medium-bodied beer with a silky texture.

This strikes me as a classy Wild Ale. I enjoyed it Easter Sunday afternoon while relaxing in the quiet.

Smell: Funky, with a blend of white wine barrel and citrus aromatics

Taste: Vinous and tart, up front, with a green apple and white wine grape flavor profile; a bit citrusy, in the middle, with plenty of funk in the finish

Mouthfeel: Medium body with moderate carbonation

Overall: Spry and refreshing, with tartness, funk and citrus
