Alternating between port and bourbon barrels in quick succession for over a year, this rich and decadent imperial stout has fruit forward aromas and a wintery finish.

More oxidized than it really ought to be at less than two years old. Root beer, redvines, cherry, tea, and red wine tannins. Much heavier port expression than bourbon. Thin mouthfeel for the 12.5% abv.

Appearance: Pours an espresso color with a fizzy two finger beige head that fades to a film; a few slivers of foam stick
Smell: Chocolate and dark red fruit with more Port than Bourbon tones
Taste: Dark red fruit (primarily cherry) forward with chocolate underneath; the Port flavors build, in the middle, with some Bourbon intermingling; after the swallow, the combination tends to battle rather than complement
Mouthfeel: Full body with moderate carbonation
Overall: The combination of the Port and Bourbon barrels doesn't work that well here; having had the Speedway Stout Double Barrel earlier this year in San Diego, I have seen what can be achieved in a double barrel stout; Bhavana does a great job with many of their beers but this one needs some work
