Appearance: Pours golden with a slight chill haze; the one finger head fades to a film, leaving a shower curtain of lace
Smell: Funky aromatics with the sweeter Scuppernog and Muscadine grape tones coming through along with the more vinous Sangiovese barrel element
Taste: Tart and vinous, at the outset, bringing a red wine aspect; there are hints of the sweet North Carolina wild grapes but the tartness those grapes also have in their profile merges with the vinafera grape tones; somewhat funky, in the middle, with some oak joining the tart flavors, after the swallow
Mouthfeel: Medium body with moderate carbonation; a bit prickly
Overall: An interesting wild ale with a vinous character
