The beer pours a brownish head that dissipates quickly. The beer itself is a reddish brown color, which is different from other dubbels. Rather, the beer resembles a lighter brown ale.
The beer smell is okay. The smell has some light fruit and fig notes but actually smells more malty than your average dubbel. The spicy esters seem to be the stronger notes that dominate all the others. Also, has various cinnamon and Belgian spices.
The beer taste is very similar to the smell with its light fruit notes and strong spice and malt notes. However, it has a slight floral hop note finish.
The beer is medium bodied but feel very light for the style. The beer goes down smooth with very little viscosity. It's a bit light for a dubbel.
Overall, not the typical dubbel. Rather, it seems like a fruitier brown ale. Still, I like the reference to the Crim Dell since I'm a W&M grad.

Decent, but I didn't get the banana and clove characteristics I am used to getting with dubbels and tripels..

We love reviews (150 characters or more)! Check out: How to Review a Beer. You don't need to get fancy. Drop some thoughts on the beer's attributes (look, smell, taste, feel) plus your overall impression. Something that backs up your rating and helps others. Thanks!
