Had this on tap at the brewery poured into a shaker pint. Dark clear brown color with great beige head and lacing. Smell of caramel and cola which follows to the taste. Earthy with root beer flavors. Sweet maltiness and a bit woodsy. Good, but a bit of a caricature.

Tried this at the brewery. Here goes:
A: Dark but clear brown with a nice red hue. No head and very minimal lacing, however.
S: Somewhat subdued. Hints of vanilla with a caramel and brown sugar backbone, but overall not very robust.
T: Better than I thought it was going to be. Oaken vanilla is more robust, darkly-kilned malts are interspersed with cherries and other dark fruits. Good.
F: Neither heavy nor light.
O: Solid beer. Prefer the regular brown, though.

Picked this up at the brewery last week. Their classic brown ale aged in Bowman's Virginia Gentleman barrels for 6 weeks. Strong notes of butterscotch with a nice malt backbone. For a low abv barrel aged beer, it came out quite nice, though very different from their regular brown ale. Worth a try.
