Burnt amber-brown with a thin film that dies to a collar in no time.
Lightly toasted, the firmly medium body has a touch of nuttiness accented by some pear, apple or banana esters. Round and semi-wet, a touch of anise or licorice seems to develop far in the background of the exhale.

Having another pint 5 years later at the Falls Oktoberfest, obviously next to a few other maerzens, reveals this to be toastier than the others, while also exhibiting a slightly unusual spritz of a cologne sort of character. Otherwise on style, but unique in being a bit hoppier for a maerzen, I'm no longer getting phenols or esters otherwise, which is a good thing here as far as I'm concerned.
