there just isnt any complexity to this, i mean, next to a good example of the style from belgium this would pale so badly as to be irrelevant, which is sad, because its not a poorly made beer at all, its just woefully safe, which i feel like is the case with a lot of their recipes in here. solid beers technically speaking, but man not a lot of character at all. this one has a little haze to it and a nice tall white head, looks very much the part, but then its sort of sweet, simple from the grain side, and just without as much interesting yeast character is it should have, namely the esters are there but the uniqueness is not. i get some pear and maybe like yellow plum, white grape, perfume, soft spice, but its from a vial at the homebrew store and i can buy this too, show me something different! especially in a style like this thats supposed to be special and fancy, it just is kind of boring. even the residual sweetness doesnt have a ton of flavor. this is fine beer, well enough made and decent and everything, but its awful hard to get excited about too...
