Poured from bottle to tulip glass. Dark brown in color with a finger of tan foam that sizzles for a minute and dissolves. Beer needs to warm significantly until aromas and flavors become more pronounced. At proper serving temp, there's not much going on. Once it warms, you get dark bread and fruits, brown sugar and molasses. Thin feel.

Got a bomber of this at the brewery a few months ago on a vacation my wife and I went on a vacation to Michigan. This has been hiding in the back of my fridge behind a bunch of other beers until tonight. Poured into one of my mugs, this beer pours a dark brown color with some deep amber/ruby highlights when held up to the light. Has a tan head that's about an inch thick when first poured that settles pretty quickly to a thick surface coating and a thick ring lining the inside of the glass. Not much lacing. Aromas of toasted, bready, caramel malt sweetness along with a slight earthy, herbal hop aroma and not much else. Not a bad smell, I just with there was a bit more there to start with in general. Has a fairly toasted, bready, caramel malt sweetness upfront tastewise along with a bit of molasses and vanilla. There's also a slight bit of dark fruits such as plum and raisins. Just a very slight bit of earthy, herbal hops. No bad or off-flavors here, but not all that good either. Maybe this'd have been better if I had drank it a few months ago. Has a slightly crisp, yet also smooth and frothy, medium to full bodied mouthfeel with moderate carbonation. Has a clean finish. Very drinkable. An okay to good beer, but not great.

Not retired had on tap over the weekend at the brewery.7.8%ABV.Came in a standard pint a deep amber/brown with a thick tan head that was gone pretty quickly.Big molasses and caramel aromas with a slight metallic tinge, very sweet not only in the nose but on the palate.Big molasses and caramel/vanilla flavors,a bit cloying really,I did get a slight bit of dark toast in the back end.Not very well put together, not complex and very sweet.
