This double IPA is our most potent. It’s bursting with citrus flavor, including oranges and pink grapefruit. We think you’ll find it well-formed and refreshing.

Poured from a 16 oz. can. Has an amber/bronze color with a 1/2 inch head. Smell is of citrus, malts. Taste is boozy, earthy, a bit of citrus, significant bitterness. Feels medium/full bodied in the mouth and overall is a pretty good beer but a bit of an unusual flavor profile.

The past couple of days have been an amazing CANmalgam of Goses & Pilsners, but now my supply is exhausted. I had the Duvel as kind of an oddball, but it will lead me back to some of the breweries from which I reviewed beers the last couple of days, including Transmitter, Manayunk (CANayunk), Sly Fox, Conshohocken (CANshohocken), Sloop & Great North. Following that excursion, I will be focusing on imports for a while, bringing me full circle to that one. Stay tuned. It's gonna be CANother wild ride on The CANQuest (tm)! This one (plus a couple of others) came to me in a recent timely drop-off/pick-up in-person trade. They came to him CANtesy of a friend of his & I am grateful. Sense a developing theme yet?
From the CAN: "Dead Frog Double Bee IPA"; "Craft. Passion. Quality."; "Brewers are often inspired by nature, which led to this beer's unique name. Contrary to that name, Dead Frog is lively on the palate and bursting with citrus flavors. While it is our most potent brew, its well-formed balance keeps it refreshing. Crack open, sip and enjoy."; "Proudly brewed in Hicksville, Ohio"; "Two Bandits Brewing Co. creates craft beers with unique flavor combinations and as many locally sourced ingredients as we can muster. The result? Brews that please the palates of everyone from beer snobs to craft newbies."
I decided to follow their advice & Crack! open the vent. However, I needed to CANduct a slow, gentle C-Line Glug into the awaiting glass before I could CANtinue. ;=) This resulted in the formation of just under two fingers of dense, foamy, rocky, tawny head with decent retention. Color was an oh-so-faintly-hazy Amber to Deep-Amber/Light-Copper (SRM = > 9, < 13). Nose smelled of white oak and freshly-turned soil. 8=O This may not have been what they intended, given their mention of "citrus flavors", but its unabating earthiness put me in mind of a wet-hopped AIPA! Mmm. Mouthfeel was medium, but on the light side for the style. The taste had a fresh-cut, white oakiness that I found fascinating. I am sure that it was not what they intended, but it added up to a very earthy, oaky flavor that might have been better served distilled. Finish was semi-dry with an unabating earthiness. Frankly, I'm not entirely sold on this brewery. I appreciate their enthusiasm & @tone77 's willingness to share some CANs with me, but they're either wide or short of the mark, or both. 8=(

Did not really care for this beer. Nice golden color with small head. Taste like a flat glass of scotch with no ice. Had a hard time drinking this one down. Did not go down smooth whatsoever
