Tried at the brewery, while in Dunedin Late Oct 2005. This beer was apparently released in collaboration with Cadbury's (also in Dunedin, NZ) as part of their recent Chocolate Celebrations, and contains Cadbury's Chocolate in the brew.
Appearance is rather unremarkable, deep brown murky colour, no head. Looks quite heavily carbonated, which is a very strange thing to see in this style of beer.
Smell is chocolate. Just chocolate. It's like smelling a bag of cocoa or something. The chocolate overpowers everything, so even if there were other hints there they get lost.
The taste is a little better, with some rich bittersweet coffee flavours creeping in, and a little bit of dryness at the end. Still, it's dominated by the chocolate flavour. Mouthfeel is rather flat. I also think it was served way too cold.
It was drinkable, but gimmicky. I've tried chocolatey beers in the past, but this was just too much.
