Tasted from a 32 oz crowler from the Mothership taproom.
L - Extremely dark brown color that is opaque even when held up to the light. The head is a rich, dark chocolate color and initially thick and creamy but immediately fades.
S - Delicious stout aromas of chocolate, coffee, low roasted grain. On top of these are cinnamon, vanilla, oak and a whiff of bourbon. Very appetizing.
T - Flavors are very chocolate-y, with a hint of cinnamon, so it reminds me of Mexican hot chocolate. There is some oak and bourbon in the finish. Very clean fermentation and no hops to speak of.
F - Thick, silky body with a medium carbonation. Medium hops bitterness that's felt mostly at the back of the throat as it combines with a roasted grain astringency. Medium alcohol burn fits well with the overall mouthfeel and flavors.
O - A rich barrel aged stout with nice barrel-inspired flavors but with subtlety and grace, not melt-your-face flavors.
