2 years cellared. Medium brown pour, no head. Taste has nice molasses, date, prune, barley and English bw yeast starring, oak, caramel, earth and other dried dark fruits supporting. Boozy on finish with a hint of rye and pine resin. Nose is more balanced version, molasses, bourbon, barley, rye, and dark fruit are so potent! Feel so big and dry with booze that is not too strong but omnipresent. Clean and still. More in the classic english aspiration of barleywine, really enjoyed this. Pairs well with thanksgiving

Pours into a tulip glass a murky kind of reddish brown with a creamy half finger lighter beige head top.Deeply fruity in the nose along with a tinge of vanilla/bourbon,pretty straight forward.Caramel, vanilla, and leathery notes upfront on the palate, some booze/bourbon and dark fruit come into play late into the finish.Very English in nature the bourbon element, very nice. One of the better NC brewed beers I have had in awhile.

Look: It pours brown with a bit of clouding. It has a tan head with low head retention.
Smell: Strong caramel aromas up front with some toffee. There is a bit of an orange like note and light molasses. There are subtle notes of bourbon.
Taste: Very malty in the flavor with combinations of caramel and toffee. There are some nutty notes with a bit of molasses and low bourbon. There are also low dried fruit flavors and low floral notes.
Feel: It has a full chewy body with a smooth texture.
Overall, the malts are dominate from the start to the finish, but the other background flavors make for a complex flavor sensation.

Appearance: Pours a mahogany color with a thin head that quickly disappears; no lacing
Smell: Toasted oak, vanilla and caramel tones complemented by the Bourbon barrel
Taste: Caramel and Bourbon forward, with the vanilla creeping in; earthy, with a lot of oak in the finish
Mouthfeel: Medium to full body with low carbonation; warmth in the gullet
Overall: I do like a good English Barleywine, a style I just don't see frequently
