Rowsdower from Two Plumbers. 16 fl oz crowler, received in a trade with @not2quick. Reviewed 24/11/24 (Review 3400). Note that I use DD/MM/YY protocol.
Written on crowler label “10/19”. Stored at 34 degrees at home. Served at 40.8 degrees F in a hand washed and dried Jester King snifter. The final temperature was 49.8 degrees F.
Appearance – 4
First pour – Deep Gold (SRM 6), clear.
Body – Deep Gold (SRM 6), clear. Under direct light, same. When rear-lite, same.
Head: Average (Maximum 2.8 cm, aggressive center pour), eggshell, high density. Quickly collapsing to a 0.4 cm crown, and a rocky, partial cap.
Lacing – Fair. Tight, narrow band of tiny bubbles, with many miniscule stalactites. As the level drops, the lacing devolves into torn curtains.
Aroma – 3.5 – Fresh aroma with a hint of caramel - no yeast. No ethanol (7.1% ABV as handwritten on the label).
Flavor – 4 – Begins slightly bitter with caramel maltiness. Subdued caramel as it warms. No yeast, no hops flavor. No dimethylsulfide or diacetyl. Moderate gastric warming. Bitterness increases as it warms.
Palate – 4 – Medium: watery approaching creamy; soft but lively carbonation.
Style: Follows the style guidelines as loosely condensed by BA.
Final impression and summation: 4 A pleasure to have a non-hazy IPA for a change, as well as one where the malt shines through.
