Poured from a mini growler into a Seattle beer week pint glass. Pours a very dark mahogany brown with little light transmission in the glass and a thin, light khaki head that dissipates to solid patches with light lacing. Aroma of mild dark malt and vanilla, a hint of caramel. Flavor is dark malt with slight toast, vanilla, milk chocolate; thins out into the finish leaving a mild vanilla aftertaste. Medium bodied with light creaminess. A pleasant middle of the road brown ale with a deft touch of vanilla. Starts out quite solid with nice malt and chocolate depth, but kind of dies out in the finish, leaving the vanilla to carry on. Somewhat muted, but a good example of this now somewhat uncommon style. I'll try something else from these guys if I run across it.
