From an undated can but probably brewed in June 2023 based on the Portage Instagram post: “Taste the actual tropical fruit rainbow, as Comfort In The Fog returns. This double dry hopped New England IPA is brewed with pillowy flaked wheat and oats, fermented with our favorite thiolized yeast, then dry hopped with two rounds of Sultana, Citra, Nelson, and Sabro hops. Expect notes of juicy mango, flaked coconut, and tangerine peels (6.9%).” Surprisingly tart on the palate and the finish.

No canning date

Appearance: Pours a nearly completely hazy (10% clarity) light and pale medium yellow color with a strong white head. SRM of 6. (4.00)

Aroma: Strong aromas of tropical peach, papaya, mango. Deep and tropical. (4.00)

Flavor: Strong flavors of orange citrus balanced by tropical melon, papaya, peach. Finishes juicy, yet dry. (4.25)

Feel: Medium-bodied, strong carbonation and a smooth, soft mouthfeel, yet clean. (4.50)

Compared to Mikkerphone Alternative Tracks 12/2022: Pours similar, deeper aromas. More tropical peach and papaya, and mango. Less bright lemon and grapefruit citrus with tart white grapes.

Overall: A great and tropical IPA at a lower ABV. Nice tropical peach, papaya, mango. The Sultana here brings in the tropical notes nicely. Not easy to bring in the rich tropical flavors and creamy, smooth mouthfeel, while maintaining the light and clean body. Wonderfully and delicately done here. (Rating: 4.20)

Pours a hazy golden wheat color with a fresh 1 finger head . Smell has citrus,,mango, papaya and pineapple. Taste is fresh fruit forward hops that follow the nose some vanilla/almond in finish. Mouth soft juicy and nice for the style.

Pours a very hazy and murky golden color. 3 finger fluffy, and very frothy, white head. Head retention is damn good, and there's some beautiful lacing on the glass.
The nose is just chock full of citrus. Pineapple, mango, grapefruit, and orange.
Taste - Less intense than the nose, but still tons of citrus. The citrus comes on strong on the back side.
Creamy, and soft body. Full bodied.
This is one heck of an IPA, and really fits the bill for a NEIPA.
