Crowler 750ml can. Released by the brewery in mid January, 2020.
Wiki defines affogato as "An affogato or more traditionally known as "affogato al caffe"[1] (Italian for "drowned") is an Italian coffee-based dessert. It usually takes the form of a scoop of fior di latte or vanilla gelato or ice cream topped or "drowned" with a shot of hot espresso.
Dark brown to black colored body. Has a big back lit mahogany edge. First aggressive pour brought forth a half a glass of tan foam, but subsequent pours had a one finger width of head. Sheets of lacing are left behind on the glass.
Aroma is big with coffee, chocolate, and vanilla. Coconut is lacking.
Taste is dessert-like. Flavors of chocolate and dark brewed coffee, The vanilla adds sweetness. The coconut expresses more as the beer warms, and blends okay with the other flavors. The aftertaste is coffee and chocolate.
Thin to medium mouth feel. This could be because the beer is poured from a crowler. Okay carbonation.
Tastes sweet like a dessert beer. No real alcohol detected in the taste. Okay overall, but lacks depth and breadth of expression. It's like when one has to search for the experience instead of the beer providing the experience.
