Phantasm DDH NEIPA, and our first experiment with Phantasm.NZ powder. Derived from New Zealand grape skins, Phantasm delivers an intense fruit character when co-fermented in biotransformation with our house ale yeast. Combined with our normal regular charge of Nelson, Citra, and Cashmere Cryo, this sets a new bar for hazy beer at Portage, delivering big aromatics of strawberry taffy, sauv blanc, tangerine peels, and juicy pineapple.

No canning date

Appearance: Pours a completely hazy (5% clarity) pale gold color with a strong white head. SRM of 7. (4.25)

Aroma: Strong aromas of tropical pineapple, grapefruit citrus, bright citrus flower with white grape notes. (4.00)

Flavor: Strong flavors of bright citrus, orange citrus ,white grape, tropical pineapple. Citrus, zesty with vinous notes. (4.25)

Feel: Medium-bodied, strong carbonation, drinks clean. (4.25)

Compared to BlackStack Stacking Bricks Scramjet 1/2023: Pours darker, hazier, stronger aromas. More juicy citrus and vinous notes. Less plastic and sticky tropical pineapple. Winner: Portage.

Overall: An excellent NEIPA. This one balances citrus zest with tropical pineapple. The Nelson and Phantasm adds a white grape and vinous note as the third dimension. A new age IPA with the third dimension. Maybe that should have been the name for this one. This is all around excellent. (Rating: 4.19+)
