Picked this up a few weeks back when I made my first run up to District 96. Love their beers and although this was a tad heavier than what I've had from them before, this was still enjoyable and a smooth sipper, although the heft and alcohol were quite present from the start!

The peach hue to this was quite cloudy and bright enough around the edges at the same time. A fluffy and full head topped this off as the lacing left behind was quite layered and deep with several rings sticking out among the filmy suds. White grape, turbid tropical fruit, pithy peach and apricot, booze, and snake fruit as boozy melon, goose berry, deep pine, and sweet malt emerged in the taste as this was a dank, weighty, and slick with plenty of body and fleshy fruit stickiness that stuck around long after this finally went down.

No need to say that this was nicely balanced and had just enough carbonation to keep this as lively as anything with 10.0% ABV could be. The hops listed in the description online were not the same as on here, as this contained Citra, Idaho 7, and Zappa. Can't say that I've ever had anything with Frank's surname in it before but the end result was a beer that was heavier than I expected and very herbal in the back once I finished it off. A chaser of water would be the perfect finisher for this, but regardless of that, this was another quality brew from District 96 that served as a reminder of how well they're hitting it right now - I just wish they'd date their cans!

A: Opaque and turbid marigold with some decent luminosity. Well-distributed foam head, bright white that settles into a session lasting film.

S: Confetti cupcake frosting, vanilla-orange chiffon cake, pineapple pie, cotton candy grapes. Big and bold while sweet, fruity, and tropical

M: Creamy, full and soft feel that carries a nice heat behind it.

T: Orange pez, strawberry licorice, elderberry; green, grassy and hefty herbal...dandelion. Pear, pineapple among other tropical fruit balanced with a bitter tangerine and lemon peel. One of the better in recent memory from them, but still lacks an 'it' factor.

Reviewed two days after can release. Poured into a D96 snulip glass. It pours a dense, turbid, dirty golden tangerine color with a very thick, creamy, milk-white head and copious amounts of sudsy lacing inside the glass. The fragrant nose includes lemon, grapefruit, pine needles, cannabis, and just a whiff of sweet tropical fruit. The taste opens with a nice balance of tart, bitter lemon and grapefruit, dank, earthy, resinous notes, and the sweet "Snake Fruit" that characterizes D96's IPAs. The sweet fruit is more pronounced as it warms in the glass. The Citra and Columbus hops are used to great effect while the Comet hops add bitterness, particularly at the finish. There is a touch of hop burn which may mellow out as the ale matures in the can. All of the flavors blend well. As is typical for this brewery, the mouth feel is luxuriously thick and creamy with near perfect carbonation. And you can feel the 10% ABV. Overall, Transfer of Power is big and bold. While it isn't quite at the level of the brewery's best work, it's very, very good!
