I'm not much political, but there is no way that slapping 'Mexican' in front of this beer brewed in New City can be 'authentic'. However, there are some strong associations.
1) The dark honey-gold/butterscotch. Although, it has a cloudiness I don't recognize from Mexican-made Mexican lagers.
2) Corn syrupy aroma with a touch of fresh grist.
3) Fairly dry with low true sweetness.
4) A soapy, metal barrel note. Spice, pepper, alchohol soaked yellow cake sweetness.
I don't know if any of the above make it purely 'Mexican' because I'm not sure what makes it that way in the first place; but, this is a better than the typical macro lager with a better formed flavor.
