District 96 Beer Factory

Reviewed 4 days after can release. Poured into a snulip glass. It's a turbid, muddy orange with over a finger cap of milk-white foam and thick, sudsy lacing. The fragrant smell includes pineapple, lemon, and stone fruit. The taste is pineapple-forward but it's not as sweet as I expected. Rather, it's almost tart with additional notes of lemon zest and grapefruit. and I'm also tasting some earthy pepper and spice from the Pacific Jade hops. As it warms in the glass I notice some red berry sweetness and dry pinot gris from the Enigma. It's an intriguing combination of tastes. As expected from D96 the mouth feel is super plush and creamy and the 10.5% ABV is remarkably well-hidden; it drinks very easily. Overall, I like Deep Dive. I'm conditioned to expect the sweet snake fruit in a D96 Imperial IPA but this one is surprisingly refreshing.
