Appearance: Pours out a clear coffee color with a two finger beige head that steadily descends; a few shards hang around
Smell: Roasted malt with a hint of chocolate; black bread and woodsy tones
Taste: Roasted malt, black bread with hints of chocolate and woodsy tones; the finish is nicely balanced with all elements
Mouthfeel: Medium body with moderate carbonation
Overall: A very nice Schwarz with some good roasty tones

Pours a dark brown. You get some baker's chocolate on the nose. It's definitely dry baker's chocolate forward. Lightly creamy with a touch of roastiness. Truly something you can have over and over again.

Consumed 2/13/21
Deep, dark brown, opaque with some clarity around the edges, medium sized tan head, fades to a few wisps, retains a small collar
Dark grains, dark malts, chocolate malts, roasted grain, caramel grains, dark bread, toast, semisweet chocolate, baker's chocolate, some coffee, light notes of toffee, molasses, and dark fruits, very faint hint of hops, low bitterness, dry overall, extremely balanced
Medium body, very smooth body with a crisp finish, medium carbonation
I grew up in Amesbury, and as a consequence I was very excited to first try Silvaticus back in 2017. Oblivion was one of the first beers I had from them that truly caught my attention, and in the years since I have grown to love it more and more. The balance of roasty and lightly sweet flavors is outstanding. It's a gem that begs to be drank by the crowler (although I do really enjoy the new 16oz cans).

Poured from a 32 oz crowler into a Stein glass.
Pours a deep cola brown color with a finger of creamy caramel head. The head leaves a crown of lacing before settling into a thin sheet.
The aroma brings strong notes of coffee, earthy wood chips, and plums. There's also some caramel, molasses and brown bread followed by a subtle hint of spicy hops.
The flavor brings a surprising amount of milk chocolate, caramel candy chews, brown sugar, roasted coffee, baked dough, and earthy wood chips. There's a finish of plum and fig with the absolute foggiest idea of hops.
The feel is medium bodied with moderate carbonation. Very smooth and exceptionally creamy. Has a subtle, lingering roastiness.
Overall, this is an outstanding and highly flavorful dark lager. It's very earthy, yet sweet and highly approachable. Do not sleep on this brewery.
