-ATOR is the suffix generally prescribed to the name of this rich and malty style of beer. Fermented cold, the deep brown hue precludes notes of fresh baked bread and toffee, with a full bodied finish.

Brown but light shines through the center. Appears clear. The moderate head fades to rim bubbles which leaves a few minute bubbles on the glass.
Mild metallic smell. While the toasted barley is the strongest aroma, it is weak.
Relatively dry, especially for a Doppelbock. Toasted bread flavor with a touch of alcohol. There is a light hop presence I wasn’t expecting. The finish is sweeter than the start.

Review from notes, 1/17/21 (I was too lazy to add this to BA)
Dark brown, some clarity around the edges, pours with a medium sized tan head, fades to a few wisps
Dark grains, dark bread, roasty and lightly burnt malts, chocolate malt, hints of coffee, dark and semisweet chocolate, biscuits, touch of minerality, medium bitterness, sweetness is light but complex with some caramel, toffee, and molasses, slight hints of dark fruit, cola, lingering roast
Medium body, smooth and creamy, medium-low carbonation
When Silvaticus first opened, I was immediately impressed by the quality and refinement of their lagers. To me, Orator just proves that they are only getting better. Stupid good.

Pours a deep dark ruby, looks brown to black until you hold it up to the light. Actually quite clear when you do that as well. Aroma is chocolate, caramel, raisins and leather. Flavor follows but with some vanilla and a hint of smoke in the mix as well. Medium carbonation and relatively full body, not boozy but I'd believe it if you told me it was bigger than it's 7%. A lot going on in this one. One of the more complex doppelbocks I can remember having.
