From the 22 oz bottle #65 of 157 in a teku snifter via Bluejacket74---Cheers for this one!
This mighty fine imperial pours a deep obsidian with touches of cola highlights and a
very nice head of tan foam that subsides to a thick ring, thin light layer, and displays
some very nice sudsy lacing. Nose of chocolate, vanilla, bourbon, brulee, subtle char,
dark brown sugars, toffee, and subtle dark fruit notes with rich coffee overtones.
Flavors expand on the nose with aplomb; toffee and brulee are layered
over dark chocolate fudge and rich coffee notes with lightly warming bourbon
and caramel with vanilla and oak mingling with marshmallow, brulee, and
char elements. Dark fruit notes appear on the rear of the taste with some
blackberry and blueberry nuances. Excellent mouth feel; slick, smooth as
silk, warming, light carbonation that is just enough to give some lift, and a
rich dark malt driven finish that has a flavor profile that just keeps going
on and on.
After visiting this brewery I can honestly say it deserves a LOT more
attention, especially on the Ale Trail. A hidden gem.
Excellence and cheers Bluejacket74 for this rare opportunity to
have such a fine brew from a fantastic brewery!

22 ounce bottle, 2018 vintage, bottle #2 of 154. Purchased about a week and a half ago at Combustion at their Mug Club release. Served in a snifter, the beer pours dark brown/black with about a half inch tan head that stuck around for a bit. There's also a decent amount of lacing. I like the aroma, the brew smells like chocolate, bourbon, vanilla, roasted malt, and dark fruit. Mostly sweet smelling. Taste is similar to the aroma, with bourbon, vanilla, roasted/charred malt, dark fruit, chocolate and a bit of molasses flavor. Nice barrel character in both the taste and aroma, has just the right amount of bourbon for me. Mouthfeel/body is medium/full, it's slick and smooth with a moderate amount of carbonation. I'm pretty sure this was aged in Watershed Distillery bourbon barrels, Combustion has done a great job of partnering with a lot of local businesses like Watershed. I liked this a lot, recommended if you're into barrel aged stouts and stouts in general.
