32 ounce crowler, filled yesterday at the brewery/taproom with a best by date of 12/29 written on the label. Served in a Combustion Mug Club glass, the beer pours dark brown/black with about an inch tan head that stuck around for a long time. There's also a good amount of lacing. I like the aroma, the brew smells like roasted malt, coffee, cocoa nibs, chocolate and vanilla. For the most part the taste is similar to the aroma, but with the addition of some burnt/charred malt, cream and coconut. Seems to me the roasty coffee and cocoa flavors stand out here, vanilla and coconut are light although the sweet flavors do get stronger as the beer warms. Mouthfeel/body is medium, it's a bit creamy and coating with a moderate amount of carbonation. I thought this was a good all around brew. Was kinda hoping the coconut would be stronger in this, but maybe they'll use more in the next batch. Definitely worth trying if you're ever at Combustion!
