Collaboration with Pretentious Barrel House

Brewed at Combustion in Late 2019, this beer spent 17 months aging in Chardonnay barrels at Pretentious. Two breweries, two beers, one of a kind.

Hints of oak are brought to life with bright and invigorating notes of stone fruit from additions of apricot and peach.

16 ounce can, no dating that I noticed on there but it was released this past Saturday (10/16/21). Served in a Pretentious Barrel House chalice, the beer pours a slightly hazy gold color with about an inch white head that fizzled away somewhat quickly. Small amount of lacing. I like the aroma, the brew smells like apricot, oak, peach and white grapes/wine. For the most part I think the taste is similar to the aroma, but there's also the addition of some vanilla and earthy flavors. Nice and sour brew! Mouthfeel/body is light/medium, it's refreshing a bit coating with a good amount of soft carbonation. I thought it was a tasty sour, need to buy more while it's still around. Here's to more collabs with Combustion and Pretentious Barrel House!

From the 16 oz can in a snifter via Bluejacket74! Cheers Dude!
This solid little sour pours a clear chill hazed pale golden color with
a decent head of white foam that subsides to a thick ring, thin dusty
layer, and shows subtle lacing. Nose of oak, subtle peach, vinous grape
notes, and faint apricot. Flavors surpass the nose with a definite
white grape / chardonnay note amongst under ripened peach and
apricot amongst layers of oak and light earthy notes. Nice mouth feel;
medium light body, light soft carbonation, and a tart lingering finish
that is a touch above medium dry.

Overall, a solid little brew in a style that is not my favorite but
with the barrel is excellent.

Cheers
