Collaboration with Pretentious Barrel House
Brewed at Combustion in late 2019, this beer spent 17 months aging in Port barrels at Pretentious. Two breweries, two beers, one of a kind.
Dark and deeply fruity Port barrel character is accentuated with notes of jam and berries from additions of black currant and boysenberry.

From the 16 oz can in a snifter via Bluejacket74----Cheers Dude!
This solid brew pours a dark purple tinged red with a nice looking
head of pink foam that settles to a thick ring, thin dusty layer, and
shows some faint lacing. Nose of port, tart berries of raspberry, cranberry,
and cherry, and light oak. Flavors follow with cherry, cranberry, oak, vinous port
elements, and earthy malts. Nice mouth feel; medium light body, medium light
zippy carbonation, and a nice tart finish.
Overall, I don't usually review a lot of tart brews, but this one is solid. Props
to both breweries for this fine collaboration.
Cheers

16 ounce can, no dating that I noticed on there but it was released this past Saturday (10/16/21). Served in a Pretentious Barrel House chalice, the beer pours a dark reddish/purple color with about an inch or so light pink head that didn't stick around for very long. Not much lacing. Aroma is nice, the brew smells like dark fruit/berries, Port, oak and earthiness. I think the taste is similar to the aroma, but with the addition of dark berry jam and red grape flavors. Good amount of tartness! Mouthfeel/body is medium, it's slick, smooth and easy to drink with a good amount of carbonation. Good collab between 2 of my favorite local breweries. I liked this brew, definitely worth picking up if you're into Port barrel aged sours!
