With a deep chocolate hue, this bold porter provides a smooth base to balance the sweet flavors of Madagascar vanilla beans.

Vanilla Bean Porter pours black with a big tan head. The aroma has notes of vanilla beans. The flavor is vanilla and light. It has a light, watery feel. Overall, it is a light porter with some noticeable vanilla flavors.

On-tap at Stone Arch, MSP Airport, Minneapolis, MN
A: The beer is jet black in color. It poured with a quarter finger high dark beige head that never completely faded away.
S: Strong aromas of vanilla extract are present in the nose.
T: The taste follows the smell and has lots of flavors of vanilla extract that linger well into the finish. There are slight hints of dark malts and cola.
M: It feels medium-bodied and slightly smooth on the palate with a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: The vanilla in the smell and taste of this beer is overpowering. I thought it also would have been nicer if the aromas and flavors were of vanilla beans, not of vanilla extract.
Serving type: nitro-tap

On nitro. Cream beige head. Dark chocolate brown color.
Vanilla, milk chocolate, light roasted malts, and caramel. Very straight forward, but very solid. Medium body.

i like this beer because theres not too much vanilla, so its not too sweet. its a well made base porter, lower in alcohol but not light on the grain side, its sturdy in body and quite deep and roasty on the dark end, with a drier complexion, really well built as they go. the vanilla is there, but its an accent flavor, never too strong to take it over and make it desserty. very natural vibe to it, real bean, and excellent with the light smoke and coffee notes in the base porter. there is a wonderful smoothness to this too, despite not being so strong and having a bit of a lighter body. mellow beer, easy enough drinking but also something that is absolutely substantial enough for cold weather. i think this will be a real popular beer for them over the winter, and its a beer that fills a needed niche in the market i think. i liked all the beer here, and this is one of their best in the early going. for how new they are, they have some of these recipes pretty dialed in already. i was quite impressed on the whole!
