A - Pours out a briskly bubbly dark, opaque body with a light brown head that fades quickly to a thin rim around the glass.
S - Strong hit of caramel and toffee, and a vanilla barrel hit and definite booziness.
T - The toffee is a strong hit out front, slightly overpowering, with chocolate and coffee foundations beneath. The middle brings vanilla, barrel wood, and ongoing sweetness, cut against a subtle umami note that is slightly jarring in the context. The close is more acidic, suggesting coffee, and slightly bitter.
M - Moderate carbonation present, and strong booziness, but the weight of the sweetness on the tongue is only partially scrubbed. The lingering slickness after the finish is a slight distraction.
O - This is a decent but not spectacular brew. The best aspects would make for some exceptional drinking, but everything is not quite in balance, and some of the elements are too pungent, harsh, or cloying to be welcome. Has some work to do, but I see promise.
