Midnight Oil Brewing Co. "Easy Plum, Easy Gose"
16 fl. oz. can without production codes or freshness dating. Sampled on 13 January 2022
Look: Hazy light-pinkish-gold body beneath an inch of densely foamy white that holds surprisingly well for being a sour beer. Tiny spots of lacing are left behind but eventually fade as you progress through the glass.
Smell: Mineralish and fruity.
Taste: As the aroma suggests, it's mineralish and fruity, although less mineralish than might be expected. It's tart at first but not really puckering, and lightly sweet on the other side. The plum comes through clearly. There's very little bitterness to it but the acidity lends a very dry finish. It's fairly delicate on the malt side, but remarkably well-balanced for a sour fruit beer.
Feel: Light bodied and crisp with a fine-bubbled, slightly higher than average carbonation.
Overall: Very nicely put together with a perfect balance of tartness, sweetness, and fruitiness. Bright and refreshing!

Plum is pronounced in a tart form, not quite sour. Nice scent, essence of plum wafts through. Tastes more like a spritzer than a beer and looks like an IPA. The good news is, it isn't undrinkably bitter like an IPA. An "eh, okay" brew to add to my "should've ordered a Guinness" list.
