(Notes of July 2007) Tasted by a half pint at the Market Porter adjacent to the Borough Market, London; served by a non-sparkler pull.
*Note: the name was still under the old brand of the head brewer's business "E&S", so I suppose this is now discontinued as the brewery's name has been altered.
A: light golden in colour, with a white fluffy head and an almost 100% clarity.
S: lightly hay-ish with plentiful citric notes like Golding hops; from behind an assertive wave of grapefruit-zestiness and some yeasty hints catch up. Hoppy, refreshing, light.
T: full-flavoured hoppiness of zesty-grapefruits and flowery fragrance (as of US hops) with a whiff of salt is underlined by a pale malt backbone, juicy fruits, then turning increasingly dry and tangy in the aftertaste, where a lively bitterness of fresh hops rules, almost like a hop-tea with all the hop flower infused in it...
M&D: this is a full-bodied, smoothly-textured, extremely quaffable Golden Bitter, packed with hops and juicy fruits!
