Bronzed amber in color, spot on for the style, with an ivory head. Unbecomingly hazy but otherwise not too shabby. Grapefruit, gooseberry, and kiwi fruit dominate the nose, and while the hop aromas are there they aren't as punchy as the real McCoy. Still, pleasantly floral and aromatic, with a backdrop of honey.
Nicely bittered, with a firm grapefruit rind pucker that rolls along on a bed of honey and peanuts. Simple, balanced, and tasty, but too thick - it needs a lighter body or else more carbonation. Nevertheless it is a good English take on the style and I'd like to try it from a bottle.
