Schneeeule Berlin “Walter”
,33L brown glass bottle coded “Mindestens haltbar bis 08. JULI 2022. Sampled on 03.10.2021.
Notes via stream of consciousness: This, I believe, is just “Marlene” with waldmeister (woodruff) added. It’s poured a hazy, very light golden body beneath a head of bright white that quickly fades away. The aroma is woody and herbal over a light mineralish character. The waldmeister comes on strong, but not so strong that you can’t get past it to experience the beer behind it. It’s a bit tangy but it doesn’t seem as acidic as the “Marlene”. The mineralish character remains, and there’s some mild, apple-like fruitiness. As with the “Marlene”, I’m not finding any bitterness but it doesn’t need any to finish dry as the acidity handles that. It finishes dry with the woodiness of the waldmeister lingering for some time. It’s light bodied and effervescent with a tiny-bubbled carbonation. It’s really quite refreshing and enjoyable.
