Pours a cloudy, golden amber coloration with no head whatsoever. Smells of light wheaty malt, ginger and hints of pomegranate and citrus zest. Taste is a decent balance of wheaty malt, strong citrus notes, with lemon really standing out here overwhelmingly, as well as some ginger and just a hint of pomegranate, and earthy wood with a strong, lemony sourness coming through as well. Finishes with a strong sourness and some lemon and ginger lingering in the aftertaste. Smooth mouthfeel with a light body and carbonation.
The label lists this as being brewed with lemon peel, but it tastes more like being brewed with whole lemons. That strong, lemony sourness really is overwhelming here and much more distinct than that citrussy tartness that you typically get from lactic acid. While the ginger comes through nicely as well, which actually works really well with the lemon, the more subtle notes of pomegranate and earthy wood accents get almost entirely drowned out by the lemon sourness, while I'm also kinda missing that certain funk that I'm used to from Schneeeule. I was really hoping for a more subtle balance here and can already tell that I will have trouble finishing this big bottle, which essentially tastes like lemon juice.
