Brown 500ml bottle, best before 3 Nov 2010, drank and reviewed 19 Oct 2010. Poured into an 'Abbot Ale' tankard. The bottle label tells a pleasant tale about 'Dent Railway Station' and the walk to the brewery from the said station, buy a bottle to read it!
Wonderful looking dark body, even held up to the light it still retained it's depth and darkness. On top sat a deep tan coloured foaming blanket which produced huge rich lacing as I downed the beer.
The smells were malty and leaning towards liquorice more than any sweeter trends.
The taste was all malt with very little hop content being found. Like the aroma, the maltiness favoured the less sweet side, with again liquorice being the lead player in my estimation.
The body was full and fairly rich, espeicialy when you remember the alcohol content is only 3.8% ABV.
Easy to drink and very 'moreish', wish I'd bought more when I got this bottle.
