On tap at The Woolpack in Hertford.
Splendid looking pint, pale copper body, strong white head, a sheet of lacing. Aroma is light and malty, as is the taste. Finish clean, malty. Overall, a fine example of an English Mild, not a bitter listed here.

Coming in a 500ml brown bottle, not bottle-conditioned; BB 04/2013, served cool in a straight imperial pint glass.
A: dark amber in colour, low level of carbonation in sight, coming with a limited layer of off-white beer head that dissipates slowly.
S: sweet malts (chocolatey and amber malts abound) plus a dry-ish note of supposedly hops, like your traditional Bitter, really.
T: effervescent on the palate, calcium-pill like gristy flavour abounds, also featuring lightly chocolatey & nutty, plus sweet-tea-ish and brown-sugary notes, followed by a faintly earthy tinge of English hops with a lingering but subtle bitterness in the end.
M&D: light-bodied, lightly-carbonated, the palate is not too thin, overall this is a malty Bitter with an okay drinkability and slightly boring in my opinion.

A 500ml bottle with a BB of Aug 2012. The ABV is 4.1%. Picked up down South when visiting a friend a while back (he lives in Hertford, the location of the brewery).
Poured into a Sam Smiths pint glass. A clear orange-amber colour with medium carbonation. Forms a large head of creamy off-white foam that lasts for a few minutes before subsiding to a patchy surface layer. Aroma of caramel malt with hints of roasted grain, chocolate and mild stewed hops.
Tastes of caramel malt with a mild, dry finish. Hints of chocolate, ale yeast and subtle stewed hops. A faint bitterness upon swallowing. Mouthfeel is smooth and tingly, with good body. Slightly dry. Aftertaste of caramel malt and stewed hops.
Not bad, but rather bland. Nicely balanced, but not much to hold your interest. More of a mild than a bitter - the malt comes through while the bittering hops are muted. Decent body. Perhaps it's greatest asset is it's drinkability; while it doesn't knock your socks off I could imagine sinking a few down the pub. Worth trying.

This beer is a light amber color with a shortlived head and good lacing. The aroma is quite malty with some nice herbal hop notes. The taste is malty for a bitter with bready somewhat buttery flavors. The hops are in the back and quite floral. Theres a very subdued bitterness. The mouthfeel is very light and a bit watery with low carbonation even for a cask ale. A very refreshing and decent ale. It could definitely do with some bolder flavors though.
