Served cold from 500ml bottle into pint mug.

A) Medium amber, slightly hazy, a few bubbles. Thin white head.

S) Light toffee. At odds with the 'flowery' character claimed on the bottle.

T) The hop bitterness is there in the front and is surprising. Followed closely by the balancing sweetness of the malt expected from the odour. Butterscotch-esque aftertaste follows. Overall, the taste is well balanced but not spectacular.

M) Muted carbonation, which is fine. Quite pleasant sweetness on the aftertaste.

O) Decent ale, pick it up if you are a fan of the style. Don't pay too much.

Quite a light amber body with a reasonable white head though not huge (2mm) seems to stick around

The aroma is inviting floral gums & cream crackers with slight hints of pewter.

Floral notes with the taste also very light tasting slight copper notes the hops warm slightly but the yeast taste pips it to the bitter finish

Good mouthfeel alongside just the right amount of sparkle produce a competent offering that will quench your thirst but not set it alight.

A 500ml bottle with a BB of Apr 2013. Picked up from a supermarket down South ages ago while visiting a friend. Described on the label as a late hopped special pale ale.

Poured into a tulip pint glass. A clear amber hue with medium carbonation. Forms a large head of white foam that lasts for a few minutes before settling. Aroma of light caramel malt, stewed hops, mild yeast esters and a whisper of citrus in the background.

Tastes of mild caramel malt with a dry, bitter finish. Notes of stewed hops, earthy yeast, a hint of grain and ultra-faint citrus. A restrained bitterness upon swallowing. Mouthfeel is smooth, dry and tingly, with decent body for the style. Somewhat astringent, with an aftertaste of harsh stewed hops and yeast.

A pretty run-of-the-mill pale ale. Nothing much stands out flavourwise - I was hoping it would have a more distinct hoppiness. Decent balance, but lacking in depth. It could be that it's rather old - I'll try and review a fresher one if I have the chance. At any rate it's no show-stopper. Worth sampling, but no need to hunt it down.
