Style: American Porter

Alcohol by volume (ABV): 6.80%

Notes / Commercial Description:
Chocolate explosion! The chocolate mines supply us with the necessary ingredients to make this ale. Miners use sticks of dynamite to blow chunks of chocolate into rail cars heading straight to the brewery. We mine the most chocolate and espresso flavor from select grains to produce a massive chocolate flavor that rolls over the tongue into a gentle finish with a hint of espresso. ChocōLatté aims to please those with a cocoa addiction.

Tasted like straight sour infection, and I dumped it after a few sips and checking online if it was supposed to be sour. I tried to inform the brewery but received no response.

First off I'd like to say I'd rate the 16 oz can a 4.75. Very attractive packaging. Poured it into a chilled glass mug. Colour was of a very nice dark dark root beer with a thin tan head and spotty lacing, what got my attention was it seemed very thin for a porter. Smells of mild malts and chocolate. Tastes pretty smooth with a watery chocolate/coffee mouthfeel but nothing exceptional. Not bad but not what I expected from this brewery's great packaging. Average at best. Prost!

No chocolate or coffee and all tart, sour infection. Not sure if I got an off bottle, but it went straight down the drain.

As others have said, rather subdued. Good color, but the smell did not deliver much, nor flavor. Not bad, just not as great as hoping. Not so much subtle as muted.

Poured quite opaque from my bomber, zero light penetration with a decent two finger mocha coloured head and traces of lace sticking about. Not a bad looking beer. Sadly things descend from there, with the aroma being very subtle coffee, roasted grain, cacao and malts. Taste is also very subdued with roasted coffee, cacao nibs and grain being present along with some sweet malt, accompanied with a very light creaminess but overall being a bit watery and falling flat, not providing the rich and flavorful aspects that a good Porter should. Okay try but no cigar. Seems this brewery has potential but has lots of kinks to work out.

Clear black colored beer with a medium sized brown colored beer.

Smells of chocolate and coffee and not much else. Smaller scents of caramel and smoke.

Starts out strongly tasting of patent malt, burnt and a little sour. Fair coffee flavor and not very bitter. Mostly this is coffee not chocolate.

Mouthfeel is OK.

Overall it is OK. Not something I would buy again though.

Poured from a 22oz bomber into my Samuel Smith nonic. Clear bole liquid with an active smattering of beige up top, receding quickly to a vague surface slick and micro-collar. Slight lacing, no legs, poor retention.

Diner coffee, buttermilk, and toasted grains in the nose. Very faint hint of smoke perhaps.

Cocoa, coffee, and roasted malt are all present immediately on the palate entry, but resolve into a flat faintly sour note into the finish. A little more complexity emerges from the coffee notes as the ale warms, and the chocolate becomes a little more pronounced deep in the aftertaste (not sure if it is the chocolate malt or the cocoa nibs themselves?). Very mild bitterness, probably more from the coffee/cocoa nibs than from hops.

Slightly thin yet almost sticky mouth-feel with low carbonation.

Easy drinking, albeit a bit milquetoast - flavors could maybe have done with a bit more time to meld together before bottling? I imagine this would be better on cask. Good value, but not tasty enough to revisit for me.
