Legend has it that in the mid 1800s, some of the ships delivering beer from England to India chose to make a stop off the California coast to dry hop their precious cargo. But this wasn't an easy task. To harvest these hops they would have to dive into the underwater hop fields and face the beast known as the krHOPen. The krHOPen would use its tenacious tentacles to protect its beloved hop cones. Brewed with Nugget, Apollo, Cascade and Chinook, we dedicate this IPA to the brewers lost at sea fighting the beast.

Bought this because it was on sale and local and I only read the month and day of the date it was canned on. Even 1 year old it was quite decent, but not distinguished. I would not hesitate to try it on tap.

Poured from a bomber into a Dogfish Head tulip
L: Hazy golden copper pour with 2 fingers of foamy white head. Outstanding lacing.
S: Bready malts and floral hops. Some citrus and fruit as well.
T/F: Big malt character... bread and sweet grains. Nice bitter hop character... citrus and pine mixed with some sweeter tropicals. Well balanced and a bit floral. Medium body and sticky on the tongue. The finish is bittersweet fruit.
O: A nice well balanced big DIPA. I expected a higher ABV given the body and flavor... overall tasty and drinkable. Not elite but for the price worth a pickup.

Poured from a 22oz bottle.
Nice hazy gold color. Thick, lingering head of heavy laced foam.
Nice breadiness in the scent, balanced by a fairly subtle hop presence.
More forward hoppiness, still strong breadiness and very subtle citrus notes. A pretty well balance beer! Very easy drinking , super crisp. UPDATE: very prominent floral qualities as the beer warmed, great added characteristic!

22 oz bottle. Pours slightly hazy straw gold with a big rocky white head that retains well and laces the glass.
The aroma is doughy biscuit malt with grassy slightly piney resiny hops.
The flavor is sweet biscuity malt with some grassy resiny hops that leave an ashy aftertaste. The mouthfeel is thin and watery.
Overall, malty, grassy, ashy and watery.

Looks OK at first pour, with plenty of suds. Then a closer look reveals a soup of tiny floaties. Slight aroma of citrus. Flavor is a murk of grapefruit pith and something tangy and woody. Strangely watery. Astoundingly bitter aftertaste. There is an unfortunate plasticky off-taste. From the 22 oz bottle purchased at Central Market in Shoreline.
