Served from the can in a Lagunitas mason jar.
Judging by searching for this beer, I surmise it's not the most uniquely named. Regardless, this stuff pours a straight onyx topped by a finger or so of dry sandstone foam. The nose comprises roasted malts, mild coffee, and a pinch of cocoa powder. The taste brings in more of the same, a vague sweetness pervading the proceedings without ever really speaking up in front of everyone. The body is a solid medium, with a light moderate carbonation and a relatively smooth feel. Overall, a nice impy stout, one whose drinkability makes up for its general lack of flair or sparkle. I could see drinking this pretty regularly, not gonna lie.

Appearance - Pours black with cola brown edging and a tan, rocky one finger width head. Dissipates rather quickly, leaving a mostly barren surface and a thin ring of suds around the edge of the glass. No lacing.
Smell - A surprising amount of buttery toffee on the nose. Hints of chocolate and roast.
Taste - Follows the nose. Pure toffee bomb; all other flavors are in the back seat. Hints of chocolate and roasted malt sit beneath the toffee punch. A lightly tart note of red berry and coffee emerges in the finish as the toffee dies down, delivering a surprisingly balanced aftertaste that features all aforementioned flavors.
Mouthfeel - Near full-bodied with fair, tingly carbonation. Slick, almost silky texture with an easy, slightly dry finish. You wouldn't guess this to be 10%.
Overall - The lack of roasty depth threw me, but this beer grew on me as I continued to sip it. The amount of toffee upfront and through most of the experience is as apparent as a flavor gets, so avoid if you are not a toffee fan. Hard to score this because as a RIS it falls well short of expectations, but the beer I'm drinking is actually pretty damn likeable.

kind of thin, kind of amateurish, but has potential.... like the carbonation; and the thinness isnt bad if used properly.... decent flavor.... just kind of an adjunct-like flavor to it which can be tweaked to perfection (hopefully) later?
