Pours pitch black, few dark tan bubbles.
Smell is pure rum. Alcohol, spice, sugar cane.
Taste is the same. With a bit of extra smokey wood. Most barrel character I've ever seen in a beer I think. Tastes like rum with black dye in it. So it feels too unbalanced, not enough stout to carry all that rum
Feel is smooth with a bit of richness. Pretty dry.
Massive rum, not much stout left.

33 cl bottle poured into a taster’s snifter, in Toulouse, France. BB 05/2029 tells me this was bottled in May 2024.
OK brownish foam risis up above a densely dark brew.
Nose comes hot and spicy, all alcohol with the saving grace of some coffee.
Taste follows. It’s hard to give a fair review of a Stout that’s just starting to feel its way in a bottle that basically says “give me some age”. Yet I get spiced rum barrel up front, bitter dark chocolate, tobacco, and molasses pushing through the alcohol. Said alcohol is astrigent and in ya face.
Mouthfeel is medium and there’s high carbonation.
Overall, the promise that awaits this Stout is evident. Way too soon to have opened it, and I’ll be searching out another to put away for a year. Bet it’ll be righteous.
