The latest iteration of our fruited sour ale series features raspberries and black currant. Tart, fruity, and a deep shade of fuchsia, this is one beautiful beer. Pucker up, buttercup!

A: Pours a relatively clear, almost opaque medium to dark ruby red in color with moderate amounts of fine active visible carbonation rising quickly from the bottom of the glass and faint fuchsia + pale purple + pale garnet red colored highlights. The beer has a three finger all fizzy foamy pinkish white head that reduces to a large patch of slightly mottled thin film covering approximately 75% of the surface of the beer and a thin ring at the edges of the glass. Light amounts of lacing are observed.

S: Moderate aromas of tart/sour raspberries and black currants over the top of light to moderate aromas of slightly sour wheat malts with minimal amounts of sweetness and a moderate amount of lacto lemon citrus tartness. Almost something slightly musty/funky in the aroma.

T: Upfront there are light to moderate flavors of slightly sour wheat malts with minimal amounts of sweetness and a moderate amount of lacto lemon citrus tartness. That is followed by something slightly musty/slightly funky. Finally there are slightly stronger than moderate flavors of moderately tart/sour raspberries and black currants. Moderate amounts of lingering tartness in the finish.

M: Light to medium bodied with moderate amounts of carbonation. Slightly heavier than light amounts of acidic prickliness.

O: Drinks fairly easily with well hidden alcohol but it is quite tart/sour and that mustiness doesn’t really work for my palate. I like the combination of raspberries + black currants.
