Almost black color with minimal lacing. Very prominent coffee and roasted malt on the nose. Prominent coffee and maple syrup flavors. Nice level of sweetness without being too cloying. Definitely didn’t get any waffles or granola, which was a little disappointing- wasn’t sure if the description was tasting notes or if they were added to the brew. Might need to amp up the amount if that’s what they were going for with this one. Not a bad stout though.

5 oz. in a stemless glass at the brewery.
Appearance: Jet black with minimal head.
Aroma: Maple syrup, booze, coffee.
Taste: Follows nose. Maple syrup is VERY there. Coffee very present, too. Burnt notes. Dark chocolate.
Mouthfeel: A slow sipper as it’s full of booze. Doesn’t kill the palate but does rough it up.
Overall: Well executed big stout. Good stuff. The flavors are noticeable but not cloying or “too much.”

The can says “Imperial stout brewed with waffles, granola, maple syrup and coffee.” I definitely notice the coffee and a bit of maple. I get a slight whiff of graham cracker, which is probably the waffles, but don’t really notice the granola. Mouthfeel is smooth, not quite as soft as stouts made with lactose, but without any noticeable alcohol bite. Overall, a very good imperial stout.
