At the brewery, into a shaker, pours a bright clear amber with 1 finger eggshell head...minimal retention and fairly good lacing. Disappointing nose for the style...some bread crust, a little overripe citrus, and earthy hoppiness, but all in all, fairly muted. Taste is better...kind of in the style of what I think of as an old-school IPA, with a trace f pine and less citrus than the nose. I was hoping for a little more Columbus spicey notes. Finishes wet but there's a bit of a bitter bite. Middling body, and middling to high carb. All in all, this isn't bad. It is quite balanced, but doesn't really have anything that distinguishes it; fairly middle of the road in an extremely crowded field.

 

 

Great opening day beer for this brand new brewery. It was an overall great beer. I'm looking forward to seeing new beers as the brewery develops.
