16 ounce prowler into pint glass, filled on 3/10/2019. Pours lightly hazy very dark ruby red/brown color with 1-2 finger dense and rocky khaki head with great retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of milk chocolate, cocoa, caramel, brown sugar, toffee, vanilla, cream, roasted nuts, toasted biscuit, and dark/brown bread; with light notes of coffee, dark fruit, smoke, herbal, grass, pepper, and yeast/roast/toasted earthiness. Nice and pleasant aromas with good balance and complexity of dark/roast/bready malts, vanilla, and light earthy hop notes; with solid strength. Taste of big milk chocolate, cocoa, caramel, brown sugar, toffee, vanilla, cream, roasted nuts, toasted biscuit, and dark/brown bread; with light notes of coffee, dark fruit, smoke, herbal, grass, pepper, and yeast/roast/toasted earthiness. Mild herbal, grassy, spicy, roasted bitterness on the finish. Lingering notes of milk chocolate, cocoa, caramel, brown sugar, toffee, vanilla, cream, roasted nuts, toasted biscuit, dark/brown bread, light coffee/smoke, herbal, grass, pepper, and yeast/roast/toasted earthiness on the finish for a while. Awesome complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roast/bready malts, vanilla, and light earthy hop flavors; with a solid roast/hop bitter/sweet balance, and no cloying/acrid flavors after the finish. Lightly increasing dryness from lingering hop/roast bitterness. Medium carbonation and light-medium body; with a very smooth, moderately creamy/silky/bready/grainy, and lightly sticky/chalky mouthfeel that is fantastic. Zero warming alcohol as expected of 5%. Overall this is an excellent flavored american porter. All around great complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roast/bready malts, vanilla, and light earthy hop flavors; very smooth and pretty refreshing to drink with mildly bitter/drying finish. Awesomely soft feel, not overly bitter/roasty. Very flavorful and not watery for the session ABV. Very clean and nicely rich malt complexity and balanced vanilla flavorings; with solid earthy hop presence/balance. Lightly sweet with lingering dryness. A very enjoyable offering, and impressive style example for the ABV.
