16 ounce prowler into pint glass, filled on 3/10/2019. Pours nearly opaque dark brown/black color with a 1 finger dense and creamy dark tan head with great retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of huge milk chocolate, cocoa, medium roast coffee, caramel, brown sugar, toffee, vanilla, frosting, cream, marshmallow, fudge, brownie/cake batter, roasted nuts, and toasted dark/brown bread; with light notes of molasses, dark fruit, smoke, herbal, grass, and yeast/roast/toasted earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of dark/roast/bready malts, coffee, vanilla, sugars, and light earthy hop notes; with big strength. Taste of huge milk chocolate, cocoa, medium roast coffee, caramel, brown sugar, toffee, vanilla, frosting, cream, marshmallow, fudge, brownie/cake batter, roasted nuts, and toasted dark/brown bread; with light notes of molasses, dark fruit, smoke, herbal, grass, and yeast/roast/toasted earthiness. Very mild herbal, grassy, roasted coffee bitterness on the finish. Lingering notes of milk chocolate, cocoa, medium roast coffee, caramel, brown sugar, toffee, vanilla, frosting, cream, marshmallow, fudge, brownie/cake batter, roasted nuts, toasted dark/brown bread, light molasses/smoke, herbal, grass, and yeast/roast/toasted earthiness on the finish for a while. Incredible complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roast/bready malts, coffee, vanilla, sugars, and light earthy hop flavors; with a solid roast/hop bitter/sweet balance, and no cloying sweetness after the finish. Slightly increasing dryness from lingering bitterness. Light-medium carbonation and medium-full body; with a very smooth, creamy/silky/velvety, and slightly slick/sticky/chalky mouthfeel that is fantastic. Minimal warming alcohol as expected of 5.3%. Overall this is a fantastic flavored milk/sweet stout! All around fantastic complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roast/bready malts, coffee, vanilla, sugars, and light earthy hop flavors; very smooth and easy to drink with the minimally bitter/drying finish. Amazingly soft feel. Insanely rich for the low ABV. Amazing balance of rich malts, fruity/nutty coffee, vanilla, and sugars; with just enough lingering bitterness to balance sweetness. A highly enjoyable offering, and amazing spot on style example.
